Ferrari is an Italian car brand that was created on September 13, 1939. The company was founded by Enzo Ferrari. Ferrari manufacture luxury and high performance sports cars in Italy. They’re best know for their supercars and car racing history. Ferrari headquarters are currently in Amsterdam, Netherlands in Europe, with their de facto base in Maranello, Emilia-Romagna, Italy.
Ferrari Company Timeline – History
1929 – Enzo Ferrari forms the company Scuderia Ferrari to promote amateur drivers in Modena.
1938 – Enzo is hired by Alfa Romeo to head their racing department.
1941 – Alfa Romeo is confiscated by the Axis powers to build equipment for the war effort. Ferrari is overlooked.
1943 – Ferrari moves the factory to Maranello.
1944 – The factory is bombed by the Allies and destroyed.
1946 – The Ferrari factory is rebuilt in Maranello.
1947 – The first official Ferrari road car is built. The 125 S was introduced with a V12 engine and sold to help Enzo fund the Scuderia Ferrari.
1949 – The first win of a Ferrari car in the professional racing world in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
1953 – The World Sportscar Championship is created and Ferrari dominates the industry of racing.
1972 – After years of winning sports car racing, Enzo changes his focus tor sponsor and create products for the Formula One circuit.
1988 – The company founder Enzo Ferrari dies.
1996 – Scuderia Ferrari hires Michael Schumacher to the racing team.
2004 – Fiat Group owns a majority share of Ferrari as well as Alfa Romeo. Fiat controls the Ferrari brand of cars.
2009 – The Ferrari 458 Italia model was first produced. It was a Type F142 mid engine sports car that was produced up until 2015.
2015 – The Ferrari 488 replaced the 458 Italia model. The 488 was a mid engine turbocharged V8 engine and was produced up until 2019.
