Toyota is a Japanese car brand that was created in 1937. The company was founded by Kiichiro Toyoda. Toyota manufacture a full range of passenger vehicles, pickups, light trucks, vans, commercial vehicles, crossovers, and SUVs in Japan and factories around the world. They’re best known for their reliable cars at an affordable price. Toyota headquarters are currently in Toyota City, Aichi, Japan. Toyota Motor Corporation is Toyota Jidōsha kabushiki gaisha or トヨタ自動車株式会社 in Japanese.
Toyota Company Timeline – History
1937 – Kiichiro Toyoda creates the company on the 28th of August 1937. His father owned the loom making company “Toyota Industries” and started working on developing a vehicle in 1933 which eventually became the Toyota AA vehicle.
1966 – The Toyota Corolla was first produced. It goes on to become one of the best selling cars in the world.
2001 – The company produces the “Toyota Way 2001” system for continual improvement. The guidelines for all Toyota employees focus on respect for people and continuous improvement.
2009 – Grandson of Kiichiro Toyoda, the founder of the Toyota car company, and Great grandson of the Toyota Industries industrial company founder Sakichi Toyoda, Akio Toyoda becomes the president of the Toyota Motor Corporation.
